JKAKA urges players to get registered

Jammu, June 7 Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association (JKAKA) urged all the State Kabaddi Players to register themselves with the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association as per the decision of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India.
As per press release, the players of the state who will not register with J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association will not be allowed to participate in District, State, North Zone, All India tournament, Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Nationals, Beach and Circle Style have already sent the circulars to all the affiliated District units/Department of the state to registered the players with the State Association.



Shiksha Niketan students leave for Dharamshala trekking

JAMMU, June 7: Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme, organized by Tawi Trekkers, the premier trekking organisation of state, commenced today with 45 students including 18 girls of Shiksha Niketan Schools flagged off for Dharamshala to participate in the prestigious adventure activity. Led by a senior member of the Tawi Trekkers, Sonam Sidharth, the group is accompanied by four teachers from the school, Poonam Jamwal, Darshan Lal, Sudhir Kumar and Usha Devi.
"During the 4-day sojourn in Dharamshala area, the trekkers would visit Mcleodganj, Chamunda, Dalai Lama Temple, the headquarters of Tibetan government in exile; Bhagshunag, water fall, Dharamkot, popularly called mini Israel; Dal Lake and Tapovan besides Nagini Devi," general secretary of Tawi Trekkers, Ram Khajuria said.
Earlier, the group was flagged off by Principal of the School, Rameshwar Mengi in the presence of staff and parents of the participating students.
Meanwhile, the third group of Tawi Trekkers for Moungri trekking Programme (J&K) comprising of students of Shangrilla Public School shall leave for the trek tomorrow.


Kabaddi
players
registration from June 15

JAMMU, June 7: Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association has decided to start annual registration process of players in senior, junior and sub-junior categories from June 15 to September 30.
As per a handout issued here today those unregistered players shall not be entertained for the upcoming national level championships, so the players have been advised to get themselves registered and with the association within given time.
Semis line-up drawn in Football Cup

SRINAGAR, June 7: Semifinals line-up has been drawn with the entry of Air India, ONGC, J&K Forest and SBT Club in the last four stages from different groups in the ongoing Kashmir Invitation Football Cup, organised by J&K State Sports Council in association with J&K Football Association (JKFA) at different venues, here today.
Now, in the semifinals, scheduled for tomorrow at Polo Ground, here, SBT Club shall take on ONGC at 2.30 pm while Air India shall lock horns against J&K Forests at 5 pm at the same venue.
Earlier, in the last group-A match, played today, J&K Forest held SBT Football Club to a goalless draw at Polo Ground thus both the sides qualified for the knock-out stages of the competition.
Both sides played aggressive game throughout the game but could not score any goal.



KC Gurukul organises annual day function

Jammu, June 7: KC Gurukul College of Education today organised Annual Day cum Prize Distribution Function which was held at School premises. Arvind Mahajan, Chairman of the College was the chief guest on the occasion. The event began by lighting of traditional lamp by the chief guest followed by Saraswati Vandana. Kanchan Pandita and Preety Verma presented the welcome address.
Coordinator of the college Sangeeta Sharma read out annual report highlighting the prominent activities and achievements of the college during this academic year. The prize distribution function was also held in which the Chief Guest distributed prizes and certificates among the students who achieved excellence in different co-curricular activities which included Flower Arrangement, Poster Making, Rangoli Competition and Sport events like Spoon Racing, Cricket, Kho-Kho, Chess, and Badminton etc. The winners of sport events are Jyoti Verma and Vasundra, Surbhi Manhas and Anu Devi who shared 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize repectively in Spoon Racing.
Himmat Singh came out victorious in Chess, Sushil Sharma and Kunal Sharma were winners in Badminton Men's Doubles and Surbhi Tagotra and Anu Devi won Badminton Women's Doubles. In Kho-Kho Team B was victorious which comprises of students Surbhi Manhas, Priya Mehra, Achla Sharma, Ruchika Bhau, renu Kumari, Neha Kumari, Sunanda Chib, Anjali Sharma. In Poster Making Competition, Megha Sharma, Surbhi and Arti Clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.


District Reasi dominates in wrestling

REASI, June 7: Winning most of the medals, hosts district Reasi dominated in both under-14 and under-17 categories of inter-district state level boys' wrestling meet, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), here today.
In under-17 category, Reasi boys' clinched four gold medals in the seven weights decided on the concluding day of the competition. Similarly, in under-14 age group, Reasi boys won two gold and one silver medals out of six different weight categories. The competition officiated by the technical penal including Kulbir Singh, Basant Ram and Govind Singh.
In the finals and prize distribution function, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Baldev Raj Sharma was chief guest, who gave away medals and certificates to those winner wrestlers.
General Manager Industries, Krishan Lal was guest of honour. Assistant Director Fisheries, Bodh Ran and veteran wrestler, Captain Lehar Singh were among other distinguished guests present.

J&K CET : 27,000 aspirants appeared for exams

Jammu, June 7: Altogether 27,000 aspirants today appeared in the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Entrance Test being conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE).
On the first day today, students appeared in the Physics and Chemistry examinations, while tomorrow, Biology and Mathematics papers will be conducted, said an official.
"Over 40 examination centres have been set up across the state at various Colleges and Universities," he added.
The result will be declared within one month following which admission process at various professional colleges will begin.

HDC Rajouri excels in BA, B.Sc, B.Com final results

Rajouri, June 7: Himalayan Degree College (HDC) Rajouri once again surpassed many of its counterparts by exhibiting glinting performance with an overall pass percentage of 91% and 84% in B.Sc & B.A classes respectively.
The college has clinched 2 touching positions one each in Science and Arts streams, 8 Distinctions in Science stream besides obtaining hundreds of 1st divisions. The outstanding performers were Shikha Khajuria (80.96%), Sajda Kouser (77.69%), Sonia Sharma (76.30%), Rubal Mehta (75.51%), Tajinder Singh (75.51%), Sayela Kouser Bhat (75.45%), Saleem Ahmed (75.45%), Aaqib Lone (75.21%) and Nosheen Usman 71.15%.
