Jammu, June 19: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra (J&K) has launched 5-years Integrated Dual Degree M.Sc. (Economics) Program from the coming session 2014-15. "This innovative program was approved by the Executive Council in a meeting chaired by the Governor J&K N N Vohra, spokesperson of university said further adding, "as there are not many Universities or institutes offering such an integrated program in the country, the proposed M.Sc. (Economics) along with B.Sc. (Hons) degree will provide a great and unique opportunity to the meritorious students passing out 10+2 examination of CBSE or State Boards." He added that the admission will be purely on merit, based on 10+2 score or AIMA's UGAT score. He maintained that this M.Sc. program will enable the students to compete for the upcoming enormous job market in analytics, consulting, large data-base research etc. "The added advantage to these students will be that they would have taken several management courses during the five years period at SMVDU. The compulsory hostel living provides all SMVDU students an opportunity to develop an all round personality, with lot of opportunities for extra-curricular activities, he added. Spokesperson said the intake in the first batch will be 50 whereas it will be increased to 90 in future years. The last date for submission of Applications for the Program is 30th June 2014. |
