Jammu, June 19: President of newly elected Drivers and Cleaners Union, JMC, Ranjit Singh today held a detailed meeting with the union members and some resolutions were passed with immediate effect. Among the resolutions passed were nomination of Balkar Singh as Chief Patron, Jas Pal as Chairman and Mohd Sadiq as General Secretary of the Union in the first instance. Executive body and other office bearers will be nominated very shortly within a week's time. Drivers and Cleaner Union declares its affiliation with Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Trade Union with immediate effect. Lauding concern of Suresh Sharma regarding the working class /daily wagers, and drivers working on contract basis, this decision has been taken for the welfare of the employees. Suresh Sharma, State President of the JKPDTU and B.N.Singh District President Urban (JKPDTU) welcomed affiliation of the Union and extended full support to them in their just and genuine struggle. He urged upon the Commissioner Municipal Corporation to immediately consider the demands of the employees immediately. Meanwhile, the Union served ultimatum to the Commissioner Municipal Corporation for regularization of all drivers/cleaners working on contract basis at the earliest. Ranjit Singh thanked Kiran Wattal, Municipal Commissioner for the smooth conduct of the union elections in a peaceful and democratic manner. |
