| PDP ahead of NC, Congress in strengthening its vote bank | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 19 : Upbeat after splendid victory in Lok Sabha election, PDP leadership is now engaged in further consolidating its vote bank.Party sources said that the PDP leadership has decided to set up its sub-offices in all the far-flung areas of the state and to begin with it has set up its office in Gurez. More remote areas were being covered which could help the PDP in strengthening its vote bank.Another event that determines PDP's determination to win at least simple majority in the 87-member Assembly is indicated by the speed its leadership has demonstrated in selecting party candidates for 25 Assembly segments. Party sources said that the PDP leadership plans to field party candidates in almost all the 87 Assembly constituencies in case it failed to have some pre-poll understanding with any political party.Another report said that it has decided to contest all the 46 Assembly seats from the Kashmir valley two out of four in Ladakh region and about 25to 30 out of 37 in the Jammu province. The idea behind this exercise is to field candidates in constituencies where the PDP could garner voters support. In fact selecting party candidates just four to six months before the poll is the outcome of PDP's plan to make preparations for the battle of the ballot well in advance. |
