| Former Minister alleges political vendetta, misinformation by administration | | Seeks CM's intervention to resolve power crisis in Samba | | Early Times Report
Vijaypur, June 22: Allegations of discrimination and misleading the public leveled by a former Minister and senior leader of Congress on the government and the administration have seriously dented the credibility of the coalition government and more pertinently the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself. While raising the issue of serious power crisis in Samba district, the former minister has said that the administration was resorting to discrimination in revamping the electric poles which were damaged due to storm a few weeks back and the farmers were suffering ahead of sowing season. "The administration in Samba district has not replaced the damaged electric poles in some of the localities keeping in view their political affiliation to a particular political party," he alleged. Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seeking his intervention into the power crises in Vijaypur constituency where the people have been suffering due to inadequate power supply. "The Chief Minister should look into the issue as the poor farmers have been facing trouble in view of crises in power supply," Singh said in a statement. The former Minister said that for weeks people have been kept without electricity, while the electric poles wherever were damaged due to wind storm in Vijaypur recently were not replaced. He said that ahead of paddy crops the people should be provided adequate power supply so that they can run their water pumps to water fields, and also replaced the damaged electric poles. He said that the administration should shun the partial attitude towards the people and resolve the issue keeping in view the general suffering. The former minister also alleged that the administration was misleading the public by making false statements. With regard to construction of bandh on Devak-Basanterriver at village Chajwal, he said, even as Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had visited the area and assured that construction would be taken up, nothing was done since then. He alleged that administration was providing false information to show people that the construction work on the damaged bandh was on and it would be completed soon. "No construction work has been taken up and the people still fear that if flash flood hits the Basanter-Devak rivers, the flood water would enter their fields once again," he said, quoting suffering of the people. He warned the administration not to mislead instead, start construction work on the damaged bandh for the benefit of the people. |
