Early Times Report

JAMMU, June 22: A group of BJP leaders are working overtime to enter into alliance with arch rival National Conference because such leaders have vested interests in continuing relations with National Conference to enjoy the real power.
Interestingly not only state level leader even some national leaders of the BJP are interested to have alliance with NC because they have their personal as well as business relations with the NC leaders.
Credible source in the BJP said that some party leaders are working hard to give an impression to the party that developing relations with NC is in the interests of the nationalist forces in J&K. These leaders have their own interests in furthering relations with NC but they are giving it nationalist colour to rake up sentiments of those party leaders for whom national interests are priority.
Credible sources said that BJP leaders including some national leaders are fearing that any conflict with National Conference would be proved counterproductive for them because NC leadership are aware of many misdeeds of BJP leaders. It is fear of 2009 Rajya Sabha elections that are forcing BJP not to take any conflict with NC because it is open new Pandora box in which names of some senior BJP leaders would be exposed.
Credible sources said that in the 2009 Rajya Sabha, one of the BJP leader, had taken a vehicle from leader of a party, not National Conference despite the fact that the leader was aware that they would vote for National Conference. "A senior leader of BJP had directed local leadership to spare votes for Dr Farooq Abdullah", sources said and added that that leader has also directed state leadership to keep mum on NC and not to indulge into any personal attack.
Furthermore, BJP leaders including some national leaders have taken personal benefits from NC leaders from time to time so these leaders are trying to convince the high command that party should adopt cooperative attitude towards nationalist NC.
