Army killed 102 militants including 61 foreigners in Kashmir in past 1 ½ year

Srinagar, June 22: Army on Sunday said around 102 militants including 61 foreingners and 41 local militants were killed during the operations in past one and half year.
Moreover 42 militants including 40 local militants and two foreigners have been apprehended while ten each local and foreign militant leadership were neutralized since last year.
Talking to reporters during a media interaction at army's base camp Badami bagh cantonment, the out going General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Army's 15 Corps Lt General Gurmit Singh said army has been successful in killing ten militant leaders including four foreigners and six local militants of different outfits in past six months. "This was all possible with the excellent synergy with JKP and all other security agencies.
There was excellent integration from intelligence reports received from JKP and other security agencies," Singh told reporters here. Divulging further details he said of the 40 militants killed in 2014 include 18 each foreigners and local militants while four the militants were unidentified. "I mean their out fit was not identified."
Giving details about the militant outfits he said 17 of the 40 militants belonged to LeT while 18 belonged to HM militant outfit and eight were from JeM. He said around 23 militants were apprehended in past six months while 63 were neutralized.
"We recovered 140 weapons out of which 60 were pistols," he said, adding that recovering pistols was an indication of close range firing. "You can understand pistols potential of close range firing."
Meanwhile, army claimed to have killed 62 militants in year 2013, while 19 were apprehended and ten militant leaders have been neutralized. "Besides we have recovered 177 AK rifles during the past two years."
