JAMMU, June 22: Romy Sports and Evershine Cricket Club won their respective matches to move into the next round of the ongoing Titu Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Model School Ground, Satwari, here today.
In the first match, Romy Sports defeated Cantonment (Cantt) Cricket Club by six wickets. Earlier, batting first, Romy Club made 116 runs losing all their wickets. Monu remained top scorer with 31 runs while Atul and Rohit contributed 17 and 22 runs respectively. From Cantt Club, Dheeraj took three wickets, followed by Kaka and Raj Kumar, who shared two each.
In reply, Cantt Club chased the total making 117 runs in 17 overs for four wickets. Sajjad contributed 36 runs while Sahil and Parshotam added 23 and 15 runs respectively.
Manu took two wickets while Binder and Rohit shared apiece each from Romy Sports. Dheeraj was declared man of the match for his three wickets haul.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Evershine Club trounced Magnum Club by 33 runs. Batting first, Evershine scored 126 runs for eight wickets. Hardeep (36) and Vicky Manchanda (17) were top scorers. From Magnum, Azad and Ali took two wickets each while Sunny, ARchit and Aziz shared piece each.
Later, Magnum could not chase the total and exhausted their quota of overs for 93 runs for nine wickets. Rohit (17), Dushyant (13) and Ajay (11) were main contributors to the total.
From Evershine, Vicky Manchanda bagged three wickets while Hoshiar Singh took two. Hardeep and Nasir bagged one wicket each.
For his all-round performance, Vicky Manchanda was named man of the match. |
