| Electric cars on Jammu-Pathankot rail section soon | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 22 : If every thing went well in the coming weeks electric trains would soon start running on the Jammu-Pathankot rail section and bring respite to the thousands of train passengers as it would be considerably cut down the travel time. The railway engineers have conducted a trial run of electric loco on electrified Jammu-Pathankot rail section paving the way for starting electric trains on the sensitive route.A team of senior railway engineers led by Deputy Chief Electrical Engineer Neeraj Gupta has already conducted the successful Electric Loco trial on 100 km long Jammu-Pathankot section and declared the rail track fit for running electric trains up to Jammu.The electrification project handled by the Central Organisation for Railway electrification (CORE) was running behind the schedule and now it is expected to be made operational soon. According to official sources the rail engineers would now be awaiting No objection certificate from the Commissioner Railway Safety in the coming days. Meanwhile, CRS inspection is also pending to declare the Udhampur-Katra rail link fit for start of rail services to Katra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the train to Katra after receiving the CRS nod.According to official sources if CRS accords sanction to the rail section electric trains would also start running on the track in the coming month. |
