| KVIB financed 1173 units with Rs 18.75 crore margin money in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 22 : Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industry Board (KVIB) has paid an amount of Rs 18.75 crore margin money for setting up 1173 units in the Jammu and Kashmir during 2013-14. Officials said the Board financed 1173 units with margin money of Rs 18.75 crore there by generating employment to 7621 persons during the period.They said KVIB has financed 6416 units with margin money of Rs 80.41 crore since 2008-09 in the state. To sensitise the people to avail the benefits under different schemes, the KVIB has been organising exhibition, seminars, awareness-cum- workshops regularly for disseminating the programmes with regard to the activities of J&K KVIB. The Board has organised 10 District level, 2 state level exhibitions in the State during 2013-14. Meanwhile, Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce Khurshid Ahmad Ganai today inaugurated a seven-day State Level Khadi Exhibition, organised by the board, at Pahalgam, base camp of holy Amarnath cave shrine where the annual two-month-long yatra will commence from June 28. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ganai said such exhibition provides platform to the beneficiaries to exhibit their products under one roof and sell them to people on genuine rates.He said Khadi products have also a great market in Country and abroad, adding that the need of the hour was to provide vast marketing channels to the artisans and viewers to enable them to showcase and sell their products without the exploitation of middlemen. Ganai said KVIB has a mandate to provide financial assistance as per the schemes envisaged by the KVIC Government of India to the rural artisans and marketing opportunity for the sale of their products. |
