Kishtwar, June 22: In a major success, Joint team of Kishtwar Police and 08 RR carried out a search operation in Keshwan forests and busted a militant hideout used by terrorists in the past and recovered huge cache of Arms/Ammunition and explosives including 63 Kg RDX, Pakistani made .315 riffle, Korean made 7.62 MM assault Rifle and Russian made high explosive tubes. This is for the first time that any Russian and North Korean weapons were recovered in Jammu province of militancy infested state of Jammu and Kashmir since the beginning of militancy. The recovery is a serious setback to anti-national elements and will certainly hamper revival of militancy in the area, believe experts. A senior police officer said that acting on a tip off, the joint team of police and 8 RR launched a special operation and after searching the suspected hideout, huge cache of arms and ammunition which includes one AK -47 Rifle, two Pistol, three Rifle 12 Bore, one Pakistan made Rifle, 60 Kg Explosive RDX, 3 Kg other Explosive, 40 Detonators, 47 Hand Grenades, 19 UBGL Grenade, 3 RPG Rocket, 13 Magzine of AK -47 Rifle, one Magazine Pistol, 1500 rounds of AK -47/SLR Rifle, one wireless set, one Binocular, one AC/DC Charger & one firing pad AK.A case U/S 7/25/27 Indian Arms Act and 4/5 Explosive Substance Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation has been set into motion. It is pertinent to mention here that Keshwan Forest area of Kishtwar District has remained highly infested with militancy in the past and was dominated by militant outfit like LeT, HM & HUJI. |
