| Enhance wages of SPOs on priority: Monga to Govt | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 22: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) vice president and MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga Sunday demanded regularization of SPOs and enhancement of their wages immediately. Highlighting the role of SPOs in maintaining law and order, Monga sought a proper policy for their regularization. "The SPOs are getting peanuts as wages though they perform their duties with dedication and honesty. It is difficult for them to sustain their families with the meager amount they are being paid at a time when inflation has touched its peak," he said. The Congress MLC urged the state government to take up the matter of enhancement of wages of SPOs with the center. "State government should take up the matter with the union home ministry and besides enhancing the wages of SPOs, other service benefits should be given to them on priority," he demanded. He also demanded reengaging all such SPOs who have been disengaged in the past for no fault of theirs. The PCC vice president said that SPOs are vital part in maintaining the law and order situation in the state and it is duty of the state as well as the central governments to look into their grievances. |
