When contacted by Early Times , ARTO said that a team will be sent to Darhal to verify the complaint and if complaint is found genuine due action will be taken against the defaulters. He further said that his department has been keeping strict vigil on the traffic rule violators in the entire district and on Saturday only 32 vehicles were challaned for violation of various rules.
He further said that as per Apex Court guidelines those who have registered their vehicles at Rajouri (under registration No JK11-XXXX) have been asked to replace their number plates with 'high security registration plates (HSRP) within next 15 days.
Transport Commissioner has instructed the department to destroy the old plates on spot after the expiry of this notice that the vehicle owners can collect the HSRP from ARTO's office.
This process shall be completed before the coming Assembly Election to avoid any attempt by the anti national elements to target the security forces/leaders by using fake number plates, ARTO said while giving details of people friendly initiatives.
