Srinagar, July 19 : A multipurpose indoor stadium will be constructed at a cost of Rs 797.68 lakh at Leh in Ladakh region for which the Central government has sanctioned Rs six crore. Officials said here that the stadium having seating capacity of 1,000 spectators is a project to come up at an estimated cost of Rs 797.68 lakhs. They said out of which Rs 600 lakhs have been sanctioned by the Centre and balance expenditure will be borne by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh. The multipurpose stadium on its completion will have one basket ball, volleyball and a handball court each, three badminton courts, eight table tennis courts with two practice rooms, one dispensary, six player dorms, two change rooms, one gymnasium, one exercise room, one equipment store and two public conveniences.They said in addition an open stadium at Spituk near Airport the work is coming up at a cost of Rs 20.35 crore. With the completion of these national level stadiums the youth of the region will have an opportunity to excel in sports at various levels. |
