Magistrate inspects market, imposes fine of Rs 4300

Ramban, July 19: The Executive Magistrate Batote, Saifullah Shah on Saturday inspected the town and imposed fine of Rs 4300 to the defaulter shopkeepers.
The Magistrate was accompanied by Tehsil Supply Officer, Tariq Ganai and officials of Municipal Committee.
Most of the shopkeepers were found violating the Essential Commodities Act were fined Rs.200 and Rs 300 according to the magnitude of violation. A tea stall owner was fined Rs.500 for using the domestic LPG cylinder instead of the commercial one. The team also seized several expired commodities and large quantity of decaying fruits and vegetables.
Starting from Ward No.1 in Tringla the drive was discontinued following the mishandling of the TSO, Tariq by one of the shopkeepers in the main bazaar.
A complaint was filed in the Police Station, Batote but the criminal case was yet to be registered. Expressing satisfaction over the reported check in the hoarding and overcharging by the shopkeeper's consequent of recent market checkings here, Shah said that the drive would now be a fortnightly affair.
