| Intelligence agencies asked to strengthen surveillance to check movement of militants | | | Jammu, July 19: State and central Government intelligence agencies, including the agencies run by the Army and the BSF, have been asked to coordinate their efforts for feeding security agencies, including troops, guarding the LOC and the IB in Jammu and Kashmir, with specific inputs on movement and plans of militants within the border state. Reports said that a number of militants had managed to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir in recent weeks and they were trying to carve out hideouts where they could recruit local youth for arms training. It is believed that these militants were trying to trigger violence in some of the border villages. According to these reports, some militants had been provided with the uniforms usually worn by Pakistani troops and Rangers. These very militants, in the guise of R angers and Army, were trying to resort to repeated ceasefire violations so that some of them could cross over to Jammu and Kashmir. Under the plan these groups of militants receive support from Pak Army and the Rangers in sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir for giving teeth to the ongoing acts of violence. Since agencies across the border feel upset over the marked drop in the level of militancy related Violence these agencies have been seeking help from the Army and the R angers for carving out a safe ingress passage for militants so that increased number of militants along with more weapons and ammunition could enforce separatists' call for poll boycott during the ensuing Assembly election. It is in the context of these developments that the Government has called for complete coordination and cooperation among various intelligence agencies and security forces for further upgrading the security and intelligence grid in Jammu and Kashmir. |
