Baltal Violence: VHP, others condemn; term it well planned conspiracy
Government fails to curb forces creating hurdles every year during Amarnath Yatra

Jammu/Rajouri/,Kathua, July 19: Taking strong exception of the unreceptive and unpleasant Baltal incident in which many were injured and tents of Langerwalas were torched over a scuffle, various political and non political organizations including VHP and Bajrang Dal have protested demanding better security arrangements and also termed it a well planned conspiracy to discourage the yatra by the elements who have been indulged in creating hurdles every year during Shri Amarnath Yatra. Though the bandh called by VHP against Balatal violence got partial response in Jammu but various organizations stage series of protest across the winter capital against the unwarranted incident and to register their resentment against incident to disrupt smooth going Yatra. Bajrang Dal hNew Delhi chapter held protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi today against Amarnath Yatra Attacks and burnt effigy of Omar Abdullah besides demanding suspension of governor of state.
According to national spokesperson Bajrang Dal, the activist of Bajrang Dal assembled at Jantar Mantar New Delhi and staged massive protest against attacks on Amarnath Yatra in Baltal yesterday."The protestors also burnt effigy of Chief Minister of State Omar Abdullah and demanded immediate suspension of the governor of the state N N Vohra, he added. Addressing the protesters the national training head of Bajrangdal Manoj Verma and the state chief Neeraj Doneria alleged whenever the holy yatra starts, the separatists elements become operational at the behest of those who do not want to continue it.
"It is not the first time when this yatra is attacked but hooligans not only ransacked base camp but also burnt the hundreds of tents. Bajrangdal activists demanded immediate arrest of the attackers, compensation to the yatris and bhandares and proper security to the pilgrims.Expressing deep concern over the incidents, VHP New Delhi cadres including president of VHP Delhi Rikhab Chand Jain said that the attacks were preplanned and the union govt. should take immediate all out efforts to protect yatra.Meanwhile activist of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and office holders of Sanataan Dharaam Sabha Rajouri today held a protest demonstration raising slogans against the Chief Minister, State Government for its failure to curb the activities of anti-national and anti-social elements who have been creating hurdles every year during Shri Amarnath Yatra. Led by Sat Pal Sharma and Yughvir Gupta, district president and general secretary VHP respectively and Karan Thakur , state vice president the protestors amid anti government slogans also burnt the effigy of the Chief Minister and warned that any such attempt by anti social elements will not be tolerated and the government would be responsible for the consequences.
These warned government saying if fails to take any action against the hooligans within two days organisations will observe a band on Monday.A similar protest was staged by the National Secular Forum (NSF) here today in winter capital at university premises.
Addressing protesters, NSF University Chairman JB Singh, said that it was very unfortunate that a clash broke out between two groups, which also resulted in suspension of pilgrimage for one day. "It was a tactic of mischievous elements to create a wedge between two communities and also tried to create an atmosphere of suspicion and to fuel the communal tensions, which will ultimately benefit to vested interest people", he said.
The NSF activists appealed Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo to take strict action against the culprits, and also initiate action against the police officials, who remained mute spectator of the incident.
However they also appealed masses not to pay any heed to rumors as this might create a wedge between religious communities. Various organization In Kathua also staged protests in Kathua District, which observed a Bandh in response to VHP's call of Jammu Bandh against Baltal violence and termed to disturb the "Amarnath Yatra" VHP's District president Karan Singh, Shiv Sena's District president Narinder Tangri and many others said that Baltal's incident an unfortunate and held State Government responsible for the same. Protestors said it is the part of pre-planned conspiracy by the anti-national and anti social elements to disturb the annual Yatra.
Meanwhile People's Democratic Party (PDP) the main opposition party also took out a protest procession to register resentment over Baltal incident happened on yesterday and inaction of Jammu and Kashmir government to pacify the situation. PDP activists led by Bharat Choudary, PDP party candidate from Jammu East constituency started their protest from party Raghunath Bazar and after passing main markets culminated at City Chowk.
Addressing the protesters, Bharat Choudary, said that state government is sole responsible for the violent situation in Baltal. Vikram Singh, Ashok Jogi, Rafiq Malik asked government to arrange proper security for Amarnath Ji pilgrims and don't let these happened again.
