| Lakhanpur Toll post hurdle in industrial growth of J&K: BBIA | | | Early Times Report
jammu, Aug 6: An emergency meeting of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) was held under the chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan General Secretary of the Association to discuss the harassment being faced by the Industrial units at Toll Post Lakhanpur resulting great resentment amongst the Industrial Fraternity.
From last ten days, hundreds of trucks of Pesticides Manufacturing Units have been held up at Toll Post Lakhanpur due to some clarification sought from Director of Industries, Jammu. In spite of clarification given by Industries Department, heavy penalty has been imposed on the unit holders by Toll Post Lakhanpur.
Further it has been reported by our other members units also that the ETO's recently transferred to Toll Post Lakhanpur creating the problems in respect of Toll Tax Exemption to the Industrial Units by putting unnecessarily if"s and but's for the reasons best known to them.
It is pertinent to mention that Bari Brahmana Industrial Area having 400 Working Units & given direct & indirect employment to 35000 youths of our State. Due to harassment faced by working units on regular basis from Toll Post and Commercial Tax Check post at Lakhanpur, the confidence of the Entrepreneurs has been shattered resulting no fresh investment has been made by the Entrepreneurs for the setting up of new units in our State in last one year.
They appealed the Industries Minister Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo to kindly intervene into the matter and issue orders for the refund of penalty imposed on the Pesticides Manufacturing Units & also requested to setup a high level committee to take necessary steps for the resolving the issues of Industrial Sector related to Commercial Tax Check Post & Toll Post at Lakhanpur. |
