| PDD's Gandhi Nagar division becomes rehab centre for blue eyed officials | | 34 JEEs posted against 16 sanctioned posts | | G S Asgotra Jammu, Aug 6: Gandhi Nagar division of Power Development Department (PDD) has become rehabilitation centre for influential officials, who have managed to get posting in the division, raising the strength of JEEs more than double the sanctioned posts. PDD on one hand is facing severe man power crunch but its own Gandhi Nagar Division has adjusted 14 Junior Engineers, including three Technical-I, 48 Technical- III, 11 technical- IV and four Technical-IV/ helper/ SBA/ Linemen in the department for the last many years. The document which is in possession of Early Times reveals that the overall sanctioned strength of Division Gandhi Nagar is 524 and existing strength is 555 but there is more than what meets the eye. The sanctioned strength of JEs is 16 while existing strength is 34, technical-I sanctioned strength is 5 while existing strength is 8, technical III sanctioned strength is 60 while existing strength is 108 and ledger clerk sanctioned strength is 10 while existing strength is 14. Sources in the department, wishing not to be named told that it had become a trend within the department for last many years to adjust blue eyed candidates on the stag of rule and regulation to provide benefits to kith and kin of the affluent and the influential. They further said that number of divisions in Jammu Province were facing serious crunch of man power to run the department but, Gandhi Nagar is a single division of Jammu district which has surplus man power. A retired Engineer from PDD department said that union leaders are raising the voice for restructuring and reorganization for many years but state government ignoring the same. "Public representative and higher officials of PDD instead of serving masses, are using their influence to adjust their kith and kin at nearby places. Culture of cool posting in government jobs is destabling purpose and performances of departments", he said, adding that to streamline, the derailed system Chief Minister should mend existing malpractices. |
