Woman jumps to death with child in Chenab river 8/6/2014 9:51:42 PM Early Times Report BATOTE, Aug 6: A lady committed suicide by jumping into the Chenab river alongwith her two year old son at Maitra in Ramban today. According to sources, the lady has been identified as Veena Devi, 22 ,had arrived at Maitra from her in-laws's house at Kabbi today morning and after alighting from the minibus near the bank of Chenab first threw her child into the Chenab and then also jumped herself into the turbulent river. Before committing suicide she had bought three Rakhies from a nearby shop. Her husband Surjit Singh, a labourer , had died in Himachal Pradesh two years ago. Their bodies were not recovered till last reports came in.
