Prosecution failure leads acquittal of Lineman in graft case

Jammu, Aug 6: Additional Sessions Judge Anticorruption Jammu Sanjay Parihar acquitted Vachiter Singh then Lineman Power Development Department (PDD) who was caught red handed by the Vigilance Organization Jammu (VOJ) while accepting bribe of Rs 2000/-, as prosecution miserably failed to prove the case. After hearing both the sides Additional Sessions Judge Anticorruption Jammu Sanjay Parihar observed that as prosecution miserably failed to prove its case.
According to the VOJ case that Hans Raj S/o Shri Tara Chand R/o Jhajjar Kotli, Mora Dami lodged a written complaint in P/S VOJ on June 1, 2009 alleging therein that the concerned Lineman demanded Rs.2000/- as bribe, otherwise he will disconnect his electric connection. A case FIR No.11/2009 P/S VOJ was registered and the accused Lineman was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.2000/- from the complainant and a challan was presented in this regard. (JNF)
