Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 6: Security has been beefed up in Jammu and its peripheries ahead of Independence Day Celebration. Security has been tightened in this winter capital with raised check points and additional deployment of troops, a senior police official here today said. He said troops have been directed to maintain alert and keep vigil while being on duty, adding, "check points have been strengthened and no Vehicle is being allowed to move without frisking especially during nights." He further said besides state police, para-Military Forces have also been deployed at some points. "Security has also been tightened in the bordering belts in assistance with the Border Security Force, who are manning the international border with alert," said an official. He said that police personnel stationed in the bordering belts have been asked to maintain vigil and conduct reccee in the area close to the borders in view of increased ceasefire violations and infiltration attempts. However, hoteliers and lodges owners have been advised to keep vigil on suspicious elements vis--vis maintain the visitors register and do not allow anybody to check-in without have valid identity proof. Besides deployment of troops, 'defunct' CCTVs have also been made operational to keep close watch on suspicious elements. |
