MIER students participate in nature camp

Jammu, Oct 13: Students of Eco-club of Model Academy attended a three days Nature Camp at Dudu, Basantgarh, organized in collaboration with Centre for Environment Education and Training and WWE University of Jammu.
According to press release, around 23 students of the school and 24 students of the college participated in the said camp. During the 3-days camp various activities were undertaken. Students visited a wild life sanctuary, Gori Kund, Temple Sudhmahadev, the source of river - Suryaputri Tawi and Rainbow Water Fall.
The students took part in a painting competition and other cultural items like dancing, singing and displayed their talent. The students were accompanied by Zahida, Farhana and Ramandeep, the members of Eco Club. Dr. C.M. Seth Chairman, Centre for Environment Education, Jammu University interacted with the students and explained the importance of nature and its impact on human life. He also threw light on the heritage and glory of Sudhmahadev and stressed that students have a big responsibility of spreading the message of preserving and protecting nature. He also oriented the students about the relationship between culture and environment in olden days and how people used to preserve the environment with the help of culture. He also highlighted the significance and uses of traditional plants, which are also widely used as home remedies for the treatment of common ailments in our Indian society. Participation certificates were also given to nature campers.
Joint Director, Dr. Adit Gupta appreciated the efforts of the Eco - Club in organisizing environment awareness camp and events for students. Chairman and Director of the school, Dr. Arun Gupta & Dr. Renu Gupta complimented the members in spreading & fulfilling the objectives of the club. The whole programme was coordinated by Mrs. Poonam Gupta and Mrs. Monika Bajaj the Convenor of the Eco Club and Environment Unit.
