Unscrupulous duplicity heightens among candidates to get high command's attention to seek party mandate | BJP FAKING JOINING EVENTS | | Kunal Shrivatsa JAMMU, Oct 13: In an attempt to project themselves as a potential party candidates for the forthcoming Assembly polls, some 'self-styled' mass leaders within the state unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) are using all tricks up their sleeves including the 'so called' joining events to induct new faces to the party fold with a view to influence the high command. If insiders in BJP are to be believed then the trend of mass joining programmes, which of late have become a routine affair, are being flaunted by those leaders who in their desperate bid to get party mandate to contest next Assembly elections are using all means including stage-managed induction shows just to gain leverage in party circles. "A rat race of sorts is going on among BJP leaders to give projections to their candidature for the upcoming Assembly polls and to accomplish their mission they are not even hesitating to hold manipulative joining functions wherein such claimants of party tickets declare that hundreds have joined BJP which in reality has no substance," said sources. "The ticket seekers are staging these shows to exhibit their strength and to propagate themselves as real mass leaders who have large support base in different Assembly segments of the state," they added. What sources further revealed to Early Times was not only amusing but sarcastic as they said that all the joining programmes held recently have one peculiar thing of new faces getting repeated over and over again with only a slight change in the form of either while presenting bouquets or circulation of photographs alongwith a press note of the event in the media circles. "The height of duplicity of joining programmes could be gauged from the fact that if a function to facilitate the entry of newcomers was organized a few days back and few persons embraced the BJP fold, the same lot of new entrants will be prominently visible in the next show as well… Only two-three fresh faces in any gathering are genuine whereas rest of others is getting repeated most of the time," said sources. "The tall claims of dozens joining one day and hundreds embracing the party next day lack authenticity…10-12 people are identified and can be seen in every joining programme... The only difference is that sometimes the new entrants are welcomed by garlanding them while the same freshers get salutations in the shape of bandanas around their necks to mark a difference," they added. Sources further informed that ticket aspirants in pursuit of getting noticed in the party are also vigorously using social media sites to publicly put on show their 'fake popularity' among masses. "The contenders competing with each other are also using social media sites to be in the centre stage….This tendency of the wannabe candidates to uplift their prospects is quite prevalent in the party these days but such acts of desperation to be in limelight by the attention seekers are making a mockery of the party discipline and damaging its image," said sources. |
