Police solves Supwal Murder case, 2 held, another injured succumbs

Samba, Oct 13: With the arrest of two accused persons, the District Police Samba today claimed to have solved blind murder case of a young woman in Supawal of Samba on intervening night of Oct 01/02 while two other persons mother in law of victim and her son were also critical injured. Meanwhile one of the injured Shanti Devi succumbed to her fatal injuries today.
"With the arrest of Sahil Digra @ Shallu (18) s/o Paramjeet Digra of Mahalshan Ramgarh and Pankaj Sharma (20) s/o Rajinder Parshad of Mahalshan Ramgarh, Samba police claimed to have solved the blind murder case of Sunita Devi w/o Shiv Dayal, police spokesperson said.
He said, "To crack the case a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted by Anil Magotra SSP Samba which was headed by Suram Singh, Addl. SP Samba and other officers namely V P. Singh DySP HQ Samba, Inspector Ravinder Parihar SHO P/S Samba, SI Nishant Gupta Incharge PP Mansar, SI Vikas Hans Incharge PP Supwal and L/PSI Meenu Sharma." Police spokesperson said that it came to fore that after commiting the crime the accused have fled outside the state and today have returned to state and went straight to Ramgarh of Samba from where they were apprehended.
Giving details, police said, "During the intervening night of 01/02/10/2014, Sahil Digra @ Shallu- the nephew of Shiv Dayal (a BSF employee and posted in West Bengal), well aware of the fact that there is no male member in the family of his maternal uncle, alongwith other accused Pankaj Sharma with an intention to commit robbery at his residence attacked the Sunita Devi w/o Shiv Dayal, his aunt Smt Shanti Devi (65) (mother of Shiv Dayal) and Atul Thapa (13) s/o Shiv Dayal but the duo was forced to flee from spot as the minor raised alarm attraction attention of neighbours who rushed to crime spot. Accordingly, Case FIR No. 179/2014 u/s 302/307 RPC, 4/25 Arms Act was registered with Police Station Samba and investigation started.
During investigation, it came to light that the younger son of said Shiv Dayal was also present at the time of attack on his family but on seeing the accused in action, he ran away from the spot towards the residence of his uncle and narrated the whole incident which gave a lead to the police to crack the case.
"In this murderous attack, Sunita Devi died on spot whereas Shanti Devi and Atul Thappa who were seriously injured were shifted to hospital immediately by the Police on that day, police said adding, "however, the second injured person in this case namely Shanti Devi succumbed to her injuries today."
During sustained interrogation, the duo broke down and narrated that they had hatched a conspiracy to loot jewellery and cash from the house of his maternal uncle namely Shiv Dayal keeping in view the presence of only ladies and children in the house to make easy money.
They disclosed that on the day of attack, they have done recee of the said house during the day time and went there at about10:00pm and on reaching there, Sahil @ Shallu entered the house and told his maternal aunt Smt Sunita Devi that he is coming from Punjab and could not reach his house. "He also took her mobile for conveying the same to his parents and asked her to prepare meals for him, the accused said. However, when the lady was serving food to the accused, he attacked her with tokka and also called his friend standing outside the house who came inside and attacked Atul Thappa son of Shiv Dayal. "On hearing noise, Smt Shanti Devi, mother of Shiv Dayal also came to that room where she was also attacked and injured by said Pankaj. The accused revealed that meanwhile the younger son of Shiv Dayal namely Nikhil Thapa ran away from the spot towards his uncle's residence which is about 100 meters away
"Assessing the situation going out of control, both the accused fled from the spot and reached Ramgarh, from where they took a vehicle and reached Jammu and boarded a bus for Amritsar, police said. Police added that they moved towards Delhi, Surat, Golden Temple Amritsar and then reached Vijaypur during the intervening night of October 11/12 by train and proceeded towards their native place Ramgarh and made a hideout in an isolated bunker near Mahalshan Ramgarh.
"In the wee hours of today morning, the duo came out from the said hideout for the search of eatables by putting masks on their faces which made the locals suspicious who reported the same to Ramgarh Police, police said.
"On this, Ramgarh Police developed the information and informed Inspector Ravinder Parihar, SHO P/S Samba who cordoned the entire area and nabbed both the accused persons after a hot chase. Further investigation is going on and involvement of more accused persons cannot be ruled out while weapon of offence is yet to be recovered.
