BRGA demands compensation to farmers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 13: Basmati Rice Growers Association (BRGA) RS Pura Jammu has claimed that the losses and damagers due to windstorm and heavy rains to Basmati rice has been assessed to the extent of 70% to 75%. Addressing a press conference, Choudhary Dev Raj President of the Association said that due to flash floods on 5 to 6 of September, 2014 Basmati crops got damaged in Pargwal, Marh, Suchetgarh , Arnia, Vijaypur, Hiarnagar blocks and due to such floods the demarcations of their lands have vanished and farmers are facing a lot of hindrance in locating their land. Choudhary appealed to the Revenue Minister of J&K State to issue necessary instructions/directions to the Revenue field staff to give afresh Nishan Dehi of their land as per Revenue records before the kharif sowing. Dev Raj demanded that the loan which has been provided already through Kissan Credit card should be waived off under Crop Insurance Policy in favour of farmers and appealed to the Government of India New Delhi for grant of compensation to the tune of Rs. 10,000/- per kanals to farmers whose crops has totally damaged |
