Jammu, Oct 13: A total of 32 units of blood was collected in Red Ribbon Club programme organized by J&K State AIDS Control Society (JKSACS) at Government Degree College, R.S. Pura. According to press release, Chief Guest of the function was Deepika B. Thakur, Deputy Director, J&K State AIDS Control Society. The programme got off to a start with the brief introduction of Red Ribbon Club Programme in Government Degree College R.S. Pura by Dr. J.P. Singh, Nodal Officer of Red Ribbon Club, GDC, R.S. Pura.Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest Deepika B. Thakur deliberated on importance of creating awareness about HIV/AIDS among the youth. She also emphasized on safe sexual practices and the importance of voluntary blood donation in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. This was followed by an interactive session with the girls students and the queries of the girls were answered accordingly. This programme was coordinated by Rajesh Sharma, Assistant Director (Youth Affairs), JKSACS. The technical team from the Blood Bank, Govt. Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu headed by Chief Technicians U.K. Padha facilitated the Blood Donation activity. Others present on the occasion were Prof. Ghanjit Singh, Prof. Mala Bhasin, Prof. Bindu Kumari, Dr. Tarunvir Singh, S. Rajinder Singh, Dr. Sukhdeep Singh (Lecturer). Gavit Kour of B.Sc. Part -II was the anchor of the whole programme. Vote of thanks was given by Prof. Mala Bhasin. |
