Raise issues of border people including 5 marla plots, reservation in next Cabinet: Manjit to Cong | | | Early Times Report
Vijaypur, Oct 13: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today appealed Congress Ministers in Omar Abdullah led state coalition government to raise the issue of 5 marla plots and reservation for them like Actual Line of Control (ALC) residents for border people in next cabinet meeting. Singh, after visiting Ramgarh border villages and other areas affected due to Pakistan firing across the International Border had appealed Government for adequate compensation for the affected people. He said that the Congress Ministers should raise the issue of border people to the Government forcibly so that government accepts demand of five marla plots for the border residents putting up near International Border and reservation for them in jobs and educational institutions. He said that the students of these areas have been badly affected due to Pak shelling as they could not continue studies in view of heavy shelling and repeated migration towards safer places. "The people putting up in the villages along the IB have risked their lives yet the administration has not taken any step to ensure their safety. The people arrange vehicle to shift to safer places at their own," Singh said while criticizing the district administration. Criticizing Union Government, he said, they too have failed to end stalemate on the border with Pakistan. He further said they should shun soft policies for Pakistan as it has taken benefit of this policy and resorted to unprovoked firing on civilian areas in which eight people so far have been killed. |
