Srinagar, Oct 13 : A high court division bench of chief justice M M Kumar and Justice A M Magrey today directed Director of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) to ensure that no item, which stands contaminated by flood waters, is put to sale. Hearing a Public Interest Litigation, the division bench also directed Drug Controller and Health Commissioner to swing into action by confiscating and destroying such items so that the gullible public was not compelled to purchase the same and fall ill by its consumption. "A copy of this order shall also be sent to Drug Controller and Health Commissioner," the court said. The court also directed CAPD Director to take all necessary steps to ensure that the "Price List" of the department is strictly adhered to. The checking staff should come into action immediately by bringing to book those who are violating CAPD directions, the court said. "If any protection is required, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, shall provide necessary protection to the CAPD Director and the staff deputed for market checking, the bench said. |
