Aggressor Pak complains against aggressed upon India to Ban Ki-moon | Desperate bid to internalizing Kashmir issue | | Neha
Jammu, Oct 13: The aggressor Pakistan, which has been resorting to unprovoked firing at the LoC and IB, as well as deep inside the Indian territory to cause death and destruction in Jammu & Kashmir since October 1, Sunday lodged a written complaint against the aggressed upon India and sought intervention of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and international community so that the plebiscite is organized in the Indian part of Jammu & Kashmir and Kashmir issue resolved as the aspirations of Kashmiri Muslims. In fact, the Pakistani National Security and Foreign affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz wrote a nasty letter to Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon and charged India with violating the ceasefire umpteen times to vitiate atmosphere in the region. Accusing India of violating the LoC and IB and seeking UN intervention in Jammu & Kashmir, provocative Aziz, among other provocative things, wrote: "I write to bring to your urgent attention the deteriorating security situation along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as along the working boundary (read International Border) between Pakistan and India, owing to deliberate and unprovoked violations of the ceasefire agreement and cross-border firing by the Indian forces over the past weeks. As you are aware, the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is one of the long outstanding issues on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council, whose resolutions promising the holding of a plebiscite, under the auspices of the United Nations, for self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, remain valid though unimplemented to date. For decades, Pakistan has been reminding the United Nations and the international community to fulfill that promise, in the interest of durable peace and security in the region". Aziz also referred to the September 26 atrocious speech of Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif in the UN General Assembly to tell Ban Ki-moon that the "core issue" of Jammu and Kashmir needed to be resolved, that this is the responsibility of the international community and that Pakistan cannot draw a veil on the issue of Kashmir, until it is addressed in accordance with the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister had also reiterated Pakistan's readiness to work for resolution of this issue through negotiations. To convince the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Aziz further wrote that it was India and not Pakistan that has adopted an aggressive foreign policy towards Pakistan and that New Delhi is running away from talks. "Unfortunately, India has adopted a policy that runs counter to its stated desire to engage in a serious bilateral dialogue with Pakistan. India cancelled, unilaterally and without any plausible justification, the Foreign Secretary level talks that were scheduled to be held on 25 August 2014. India has now escalated the situation along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and the Working Boundary. Persistent shelling and firing by Indian forces has resulted in heavy civilian casualties on the Pakistan side. During the period 1-10 October, 2014, 20 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and 22 violations along the Working Boundary were reported, resulting in 12 civilian casualties, 52 injured civilians and 9 injured military personnel on the Pakistani side. From June to August 2014, there were 99 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and 32 along the Working Boundary. In all, during 2014, 174 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and 60 along the Working Boundary have been reported". Aziz didn't write that New Delhi cancelled the scheduled talks only after Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit rejected the Indian advice that he should not meet Kashmiri separatists. One can understand why he withheld this fact. He did it willfully, as he knew that a reference to this fact in the letter would expose the Pakistani hypocrisy and establish that Pakistan didn't consider Jammu & Kashmir a bilateral issue between the two nations. In fact, Aziz took Ban Ki-moon for a ride by not explaining what the UN resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir said way back in 1948. He only did what his counterparts did during all these years of the lawful accession of Jammu & Kashmir with India in October 1947. The provocative and irrational Pakistani National Security and Foreign Affairs advisor didn't stop just there. He further wrote: "While exercising its right to self-defence, Pakistan has exercised utmost restraint and responsibility in responding to these provocations. The Government of Pakistan sincerely hopes that better sense would prevail on the Indian side to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control…Pakistan remains committed to peaceful resolution of all issues between India and Pakistan, including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir. This is in the best interest of both India and Pakistan and the region. Pakistan believes that the United Nations has an important role to play in promoting this objective, including through your good offices, which we have always welcomed, and the crucial role of the UNMOGIP on ground, which needs to be strengthened and facilitated under the current circumstances". It is clear from the tone and tenor of this despicable and provocative letter that Pakistan's whole stand on Jammu & Kashmir is based on falsehood and that Islamabad considers the international community fool. It is also clear that New Delhi under the leadership of Narendra Modi has acted in a manner Pakistan never expected. That it lodged a complaint against India with the UN Secretary General should make everyone in India believe that Pakistan is preparing itself for playing a big mischief completely overlooking the fact that the situation in India has underwent a radical change. Today's India is totally different. Today, we have a strong government, strong, committed and visionary leadership and an Army and paramilitary forces which are pulsating with renewed vigour. Let Pakistan do whatever it wants, New Delhi is not only capable of defeating all of its moves but also dismembering Pakistan itself and retaining control over Jammu & Kashmir with the fullest possible support of the people of the state itself. |
