JAMMU, Nov 4: Surbhi and Jhanvi today qualified for the women's singles final and shall be taking on each other in the title clash tomorrow in the ongoing Jammu District Table Tennis Championship at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Jhanvi trounced Shreya in straight close sets of 11-09, 11-08, 11-09 while Surbhi defeated Shazar in a well contested match that lasted for full five sets. Surbhi made it a 3-2 win in the best of five semifinals. The Results: 11-09, 09-11, 11-09, 08-11, 11-09.
In the quarterfinal, played in the morning session, Jhanvi trounced Sonali easily 11-02, 11-02. Shreya beat Archita 11-05, 11-06 and Surbhi defeated Iknoor 11-08, 11-07. Shazar won her match against Bhavya beating latter 11-06, 11-09.
Meanwhile, semifinals position has been cleared in the men's singles with Sandeep, Ritvik Gupta, Jayesh Singh and Adhiraj making it to the last four stages of the competition.

In the meantime, the first round of youth boys' competition also got underway today. The Results: Manmeet Singh bt Anirudh 11-06, 11-05, 11-08; Sandhanshu bt Nitin 11-07, 07-11, 11-08, 11-06; Anuj Gupta bt Ninad 14-12, 11-09, 11-06; Asad bt Jatin 11-09, 07-11, 11-07, 11-08; Ashank bt Sohail 11-02, 11-02, 11-03; Sunpreet Singh bt Ketan 09-11, 08-11, 11-07, 11-08, 11-07; Arnav bt Abheet 11-07, 11-08,11-06; Amber bt Anirudh Bhargav 11-07, 11-08, 11-07.
As per the organizers, the finals shall be played tomorrow, followed by the prize distribution function at 5 pm. |
