Denied mandate, Kanathia alleges 'sale of tickets' | Has BJP paved way for Tara's victory in Chamb? | | Bivek Mathur
Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 4: Bhartiya Janta Party has generated too much of heart burn after it announced first list of 32 candidates for Jammu the previous day, which is now threatening to burn its own citadel and many of those denied mandate are raising allegations of sale of tickets on party leadership. BJP leader Chaman Lal Kanathia who fought last election against Tara Chand from Chamb constituency has come openly against the decision of the party high command to give mandate to Dr. Krishan Bhagat, an RSS worker who joined the party just a few months back. Kanathia even dared to name VHP leader Prabhat Singh for brokering mandate in favour of Bhagat ignoring his (Kanathia's) 23-24 month experience as a grass root level worker of the party . "My public friendly image could be well gauged from the fact that senior BJP leader and Mandal President-Khour block, Manga Ram-OBC Cell President, Deepak Singh-General Secretary and Ankush Choudhary-BJYM President along with other BJP leaders have resigned from their positions after knowing that I was denied mandate". Kanathia said that he along with some other candidates including Pawan Gupta from Udhampur, Yogesh Sharma from Rajouri, Jagdish Raj Sapolia from Billawar, Lal Chand from Bani, Diljeet Singh from Akhnoor and Garu Ram from RS Pura were cheated by the BJP "trio" namely MP Engineer Avinash Rai Khanna, Party President and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and State organizational Secretary Ashok Koul after getting bribe from the candidates given mandate. He said the State BJP has insulted an institution which is headed by persons like Narendra Modi and Amit Shah who are men of words. "Achieving mission 44+ would be a dream for the party in Jammu and Kashmir as people friendly leaders have been ignored and priority was given to the candidates having power of money", said Kanathia. Pertinently Kanathia gave a tough fight to Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand in 2008 Legislative Assembly elections on BJP mandate scoring 23,000 plus votes against Tara Chand who scored 25,000 plus votes. |
