Denial of tickets to them comes as blessing in disguise for new entrants, "defectors"

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 4: Though Bharatiya Janta Party's (BJP's) first list consisting 45 names for the forthcoming Assembly polls has generated resistance among the ticket hopefuls particularly those who are associated with the party for years together, however, it came like a blessing in disguise for those who recently became part of the 'saffron' brigade.
The defectors from other parties by way of making entry into BJP have not only ensured a party ticket for themselves but also managed to resurrect their sagging political careers, that too within couple of months of joining the saffron party.
As many as nine nominees out of 32 candidates who were given green signal to contest from different Assembly segments of Jammu region have defected from one political party or the other in span of two to three months and few of them even embraced the BJP fold a day ahead of formal release of the first list of the party.
While Choudhary Lal Singh who has been chosen as a BJP candidate from Basohli joined the BJP after quitting Congress in August last and within two months of his making entry into the party he was considered as a potential candidate thereby ignoring the trusted lieutenant in Jagdish Sapolia.
The hasty manner in which the fresh entrants have been rewarded could be gauged from the fact that two leaders who developed a new found love for BJP were given party mandate only after a day of their entry into the party.
Incredible, it may sound but Kuldeep Dubey, a National Conference (NC) man, and RS Pathania, associated with the Congress till October 31, switched sides to BJP on November 1 and received the gift of party ticket from Gool-Arnas and Ramnagar Assembly segments respectively on November 2 which exhibits that now a days there is no-holds-barred for anybody in the BJP.
While there are others who have also parted ways from the parties they were associated earlier to join BJP primarily to make sure that their political relevance in their areas of dominance do not fade away in the changed political scenario.
While Ashwani Sharma of Jammu State Morcha (JSM) rewarded with a BJP ticket from Bishnah Assembly segment which he is representing from 2002, Choudhary Talib Hussain, ex-MP and a former NC leader was also presented with a ticket of BJP from Rajouri though he joined the party only in August last.
Taj Mohammad Khan, who deserted Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) to join BJP in August last also endowed with a party ticket from Surankote Assembly seat while Abdul Ghani Kohli, who switched sides from Congress to PDP to BJP was also given BJP ticket from Kalakote Assembly constituency.
The buck doesn't stops here as Dr Gagan Bhagat, who was formerly with Congress, got a go ahead to contest from RS Pura Assembly segment as BJP candidate while Tariq Keen, who quit NC to join BJP was bestowed with party ticket from Inderwal Assembly constituency
Apart from the turncoats, some newcomers and fresh faces within the BJP have also been selected to represent party in few Assembly constituencies of Jammu province which has become a source of heart burns for several leaders who have dedicated years in service of the BJP in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
-----------All is not well with BJP. Veterans unhappy, defectors of other party enjoy
