BJP faces resentment in Kathua | Workers level serious allegations against Rai | | Arun Trisal Early Times Report
Kathua, Nov 4: Strong resentment was witnessed by the leaders of Kathua District unit of BJP who were irate over party's decision to give mandate to an outsider from Kathua, ignoring the local leaders. In a showdown outside the party office, levelled serious allegations against J&K BJP state incharge Avinash Rai of taking Rs 50 lacs as bribe from the outsider candidate for giving him mandate from Kathua constituency. To express their strong resentment, the protestors locked the BJP District office and eminent leadership of Kathua BJP including Ragunandan Singh, Janak Bharti, Gopal Mahajan, Updesh Andotra, Harish Chander Chingari and Chanchla Devi raised their voice against their party's decision to field the outsider as candidate from Kathua constituency. A day after the nomination was announced, worker started to hold protest against the mandate and blamed the BJP for discriminatory approach towards Kathua based leadership. They said Kathua constituency has been a stronghold of BJP since long, and Kathua BJP leadership have given their blood to stand the party not only within the Kathua constituency but across the district also. But in response, such level of humiliation is rewarded by BJP high command was never expected they said. They blamed that BJP state incharge Avinash Rai Khana has offered the mandate to outsider to contest the election from Kathua constituency only for pecuniary considerations. "Disrespect and attack on political ethics of BJP workers of Kathua will never be accepted at any cost and to reinstate our dignity and self respect BJP Kathua will intensify its movement" the agitators rued. The BJP protestor also demanded an enquiry into the entire exercise of giving mandate in J&K. |
