Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Nov 4 : Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad in an exclusive chat with "Early Times", said that Congress party will make come back after losing Lok Sabha elections. Reacting to a volley of questions, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Kishtwar is a place of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood where the people of both the communities are living together since centuries. He said that BJP leadership including Prime Minister Narindra Modi, MP Yogi Aditiya Nath and several top rank politicians of BJP malign its (Kishtwar) image by trumpeting persecution of Hindus. Azad said that there will be no effect of Modi or his party on elections in Jammu and Kashmir. "Kishtwar is the most peaceful place in the country and is famous for communal harmony. They are the most secular people, be it Hindus or Muslims---BJP is using the name "Kishtwar" to meet their political ends--- when it comes to Kishtwar, I think I can still say that the communal harmony in Kishtwar is still best in the country," he said. He said that "BJP is losing elections across the country since independence at state and national level---if they can come back to power at parliamentary level, I am sure Congress will form government in Jammu and Kashmir". Reacting to the threat from across the border, particularly in wake of the aftermath of Wagah terror attack, Azad said that the incident will not impact Indian security. "It took place inside Pakistan territory--- it is up to the Pakistani army and the people to judge and find the reason behind the incident" said Azad. In a question on Shahi Immam Bukhari's criticism of BJP for extending invitation to Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Shrief to a private family function, Azad without making any comment on Nawaz Sharief said that "Shahi Imman is criticizing BJP and BJP criticizes Shahi Immam and let them criticize each other". He said that it is unfair on part of his former cabinet colleague GK Vasan to resign and blame the party leadership after enjoying power for the 10 years. "Enjoying powers for ten years and after losing elections and blaming the leadership of the Congress party-I don't think this is fair on his part (GK Vasan)" said Azad. He said that Congress party will form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir, added that it is premature to think about any coalition with NC or any other political party as according to Azad, Congress party is contesting the elections to form its own government. He said that separatist boycott call will make no impact on election process in Jammu and Kashmir. "This is not for the first time that Huriyat issued boycott call of elections in Jammu and Kashmir-we (various political parties) have been winning since last so many years and again people of the state are going to vote for various political parties including Congress" said Azad. He said that he was sure that the effect of boycott call given by the Huriyat is not going to make any impact.
