Early Times Report RAJOURI, Dec 6: On the last day of withdrawal of nominations papers today four independent candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers and now 42 candidates including 20 independent candidates are in fray for four Assembly constituencies of Rajouri district. The Rajouri assembly seat has highest 13 candidates in poll fray followed by 11 each from Darhal and Nowshera assembly seats and Seven candidates from Darhal assembly constituency. Meanwhile Sheraz Begam is the only woman candidate contesting on BSP mandate from Darhal assembly constituency. Returning Officer 81-Noushera constituency Deepati Upaal, IAS said that after withdrawal of nominations 11 candidates including 4 independents are in fray from this constituency. Giving details she said, "Besides 5 registered mainstream political parties one candidate is contesting on the mandate of Hindustan Janta Party (HJP) and he has been allotted 'Television' as election symbol while Aswani Kumar Sharma, Pankaj Kumar Sharma , Rajinder Kumar and Surinder Kumar Choudhry, all independents, have been allotted Dish Antenna ,candles, cup and saucer and pencil respectively as election symbols. The main contest on this seat is expected between Radhey Sham (NC) sitting MLA from Nowshera. Haq Nawaz (BSP), Ravinder Raina(BJP), Ravinder Kumar Sharma (Congress), Surinder Choudhry (PDP) and Yash Pal Sharma (JKNPP). Sukhdev Singh Samyal , RO, 82-Darhal Constituency said that one independent candidate has withdraw his candidature leaving 11 candidates in fray from Darhal constituency which include 4 independent candidate , 1 from non registered party and 6 candidates from registered political parties. Among the candidates in fray, the main contest is between Sitting Ch Zulfkar (PDP), Puran Singh (BJP) Ch Liakat (NC), Sheraz Begam (BSP), Mohd Iqbal Malik (Congress). Meantime Rafaqat Aziz Choudhry of Hindustan Karantikari Party (HKP)has been allotted Hockey & ball as election symbol while independent candidates Abdul Manaf Ghulam Header Atish , Manir Hussain , Nazir Hussain all independent candidates have been allotted Carrot, Cot , Bat and Pen & Nib with seven rays as their election symbols respectively. According to Yogesh Kumar Kesar, RO , 83-Rajouri Constituency two independent candidates have withdrew their nominations papers leaving 13 candidates including 7 Independent candidates are contesting for this constituency. Chowdhry Talib Hussain (BJP), Sitting MLA Shabir Ahmed Khan (Congress), Sharafat Ali (BSP), Ghulam Mustafa (JKNPP), Qamar Hussain (PDP)and Mirza Abdul Rashid (NC) are the candidates from mainstream registered political parties while Ishtkhar Ali Ahmed, Zaheer Ahmed, Ghulam Mushtafa , Liyakat Ali, Mohd Farook and Yog Raj Sharma are contesting as independent candidates and have been allotted Table Lamp, Bat, Sewing Machine, Cauliflower, Candles, Pressure Cooker and Gas Cylinder as their election symbols respectively. Former three times district head BJP Yog Raj is expected to create dent for Chowdhry Talib Hussain of BJP. Meantime Returning Officer 84-Kalakot Constituency, Dr Basharat Hussain said that one independent candidate has withdrawn his nomination papers today and 7 candidates including two independents are now in fray from this constituency. Ashok Kumar and Mahesh Kumar both independent candidates have been issued Kite and Rin as election symbols respectively while Asad Bari Shah (PDP), Ashok Kumar Sharma (Congress), Sitting MLA Rachhpal Singh (NC) Abdul Ghani Kohli (BJP) and Mohd Rafiq are the candidates belong to registered political parties. |
