Srinagar, Dec 6: A day after former Inspector General of Crime branch Raja Aijaz Ali revealed that late National Conference worker Haji Mohammad Yusuf was interrogated at Chief Minister's residence in Srinagar for 3-hours, the family members of the dead NC worker today blamed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his close aides Nasir Aslam Wani, Devender Singh Rana and CM's Personal Security Officer Shabir Ahmad for Yusuf's alleged custodial death and sought the intervention of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi into the matter.
Addressing a news conference here Haji Yusuf's son Talib Hussain said: "Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah accusing former IG Crime Branch and PDP candidate from Uri constituency, Raja Ajaz Ali in connection with the death of my father and counter revelations made by the former IG Crime have made it clear that Haji sahib was murdered by Omar and his close associates at his residence."
"Now truth is coming to fore itself, Nasir Aslam Wani called my father on that fateful day at Omar's residence, Devender Singh Rana and Omar's Personal Security Officer, Shabir Ahmad were also there, they all murdered my father after torturing him for hours. CCTV footage shows my father was healthy when he entered Omar's residence that day," Hussain said.
Family members said that allegations and counter allegations by Omar Abdullah and Raja Ajaz Ali have given new life to the case and has made their case stronger, which is being heard by the Supreme Court.
"Omar himself recently admitted that Haji sahib was murdered
and he did not die a natural death. We want Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene into the matter, if he (Modi) really cares for people of Kashmir he should intervene in the matter personally and get FIR registered against Omar Abdullah and his aides," he said.
Hussain said, "When we approached the Batmaloo police station to get a FIR registered against the Chief Minister and his aides the concerned SHO refused to entertain their complaint."
Muhammad Hussain brother of late Haji Yusuf said the Congress is equally responsible for the murder of his brother. "Congress leadership shielded the killers for the sake of power," he alleged.
He said: "Abdul Salam Reshi and Muhammad Yousuf Bhat have already revealed how my brother was murdered and now we would like to take Raja Ajaz Ali as our witness for the case, he has made some revelations in media and I feel his revelations are enough to prove that Omar and company are the accused."
Pertinently Haji Yousuf case once again hogged the headlines after Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah recently alleged that former IG Crime Raja Ajaz Ali and PDP candidate for Uri murdered Haji Yousuf in custody following which Raja Ajaz hit back saying, "The deceased was interrogated at CM's residence for 3-hours."
