Keeps school open on NC founder's birth anniversary | Rana's close aide violates norm | | Mohammad Irfan Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 6: Several private schools in the winter capital here violated the government calendar on Friday by keeping the institutions open despite it being a gazetted holiday on the birth anniversary of the National Conference founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. It is not for the first time that private schools have violated the norms these institutions usually remain open on gazetted holidays. Sources told Early Times that Crescent Public School at Janipur Hyderpora, run by Arshad Choudary, close aide of the National Conference Provincial President Devender Rana, also threw norms to wind and was open on the occasion of NC founder's birth anniversary. "Influential owner of the school enjoys close proximity with Rana and has made a fortune during the past six years of the NC-rule in the state," sources said. They said Choudary has hoisted the NC flags atop the school building and he is using all his influence to lure the voters in NC's favor. "It is an irony that despite Choudary being a staunch NC supporter he kept the school open on NC founder's birth anniversary," sources added. They said that whenever there is any function in the school Rana is invited as the Chief Guest. Sources said when Rana came to know that his close friend had kept the school open on the birth anniversary of the late NC founder he was disappointed. However, he downplayed the issue saying party had organized a special function to observe the birth anniversary of late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Sources said that influential owner of the school has taken voluntary retirement as 'Guard' from the Forest department as he allegedly has amassed huge wealth despite having a limited income. |
