12 day play production oriented theatre workshop begins in Kargil 12/6/2014 11:07:15 PM Early Times Report Kargil, Dec 6: The inaugural ceremony of the 12 days play production oriented theatre workshop for amateur artists organized under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Kargil kicked off today at Academy Hall Baroo, Kargil. According to press release, the event is being organized as a part of the Academy’s pursuit for the encouragement of theatre arts among amateur artists, to inculcate fundamental awareness pertaining to theatrical aspects among the youth besides to reform the tradition of theatre in Kargil district. The 12 day long workshop cum play production exercise was inaugurated by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Moses Kunzang (KAS) who was also the chief guest at an impressive gathering of several dignitaries, theatre enthusiasts, district officers and participating artists. Syed Khan (KAS) Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kargil was the guest of honor on the occasion. Earlier welcoming the dignitaries, guests, theatre enthusiasts and the participating artists Muhammad Ali Tak Cultural Officer Kargil while highlighting the objective of the 12 day play production oriented theatrical event said that the theatrical exercise in question is being conducted by the Academy with the threefold aim to instill theatre skills among the amateur young artists, to impart awareness and knowledge pertaining to the professional theatrical methods besides to reform theatre’s lost glory in Kargil District which was at its peak especially in the decade of the 1970’s. Tak added that the two plays entitled Jamun Ka Ped by Krishan Chander in Urdu and Khargyabsi Loqsa (Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni) by Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat in Balti/Purgi language produced and staged by the Academy during its last mega workshop in August this year at Auditorium Hall Kargil were witnessed by hundreds of theatre enthusiasts and had won thundering applauses.
