Govt denies security to contesting candidate in Baramulla

BARAMULLA, Dec 6: Government of Jammu and Kashmir has denied security to the contesting candidate from Baramulla assembly constituency, citing the reason that security forces in connection with VVIP Movement are pre occupied, whereas Prime Minister of India has made it clear that he don't want any VVIP culture in the country, Candidate said. Addressing a press conference, independent candidate from Baramulla assembly constituency Altaf Jameel has said that, "we gave an application to the Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla who is also the Returning officer, to grant permission for conducting a public rally from Delina to Khanpora on Dec 06, 2014. "It is clear written in an application that Deputy Superintendant of Police Headquarters Baramulla vide Letter no HQB/Per/14/6838 dated 05/12/2014 quoted that security forces in connection with VVIP movement are pre occupied, candidate said. He said fact of the matter is that we were doing the road show because we were trying to get rid the threat and fear psychosis among the common masses which they have from yesterday's attack on an army camp in Uri Mohra in District Baramulla. He said that, "right from the day when Model code of Conduct is affected there is no VVIP in Jammu and Kashmir, but there is only one VVIP and that is the Governor of the state. Altaf Jameel an independent candidate said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the Code of Conduct to allow all the candidates to campaign freely and conduct the polls in a justified manner, where as the Code remains in force till the end of the electoral process. The election Code of Conduct is like a guide for the political parties and those candidates contesting the polls. He however asked that, "I fail to understand that what is this VVIP movement, whereas Prime Minister of India has made it clear that there will be no VVIP culture in the country. "We are going to file a case against the government in the court of law, I will approach to the Supreme Court and will register a compliant before the Election Commission of India (ECI). Meanwhile independent candidate said that, "as per the model code of Conduct is concerned then all candidates are equals and there is no VVIP during election time.
