Minorities much safer in hands of PDP: Rangil Singh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 7: Lauding the minorities of Kashmir for practicing their rights of franchise boldly in the first two phases of the Assembly election, the former Minister and spokesperson of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rangil Singh today reiterated that a visible positive wind of change has started blowing through length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir. Interacting with media, Singh said that the party's resolve to empower the minority communities in the state especially the Sikhs is an unprecedented step taken by the party in the history of J&K state. Referring to the empowerment of Sikhs, Rangil said that they have made exemplary contribution in all the sectors of development. "They deserve multidimensional empowerment which has so far been denied to them by the previous governments", he added. The fate of the people of the state in general and the minorities in particulars would be safer in the hands of PDP, Singh assured. Referring to different plans for socio-economic and cultural emancipation stated by the party for Sikhs, in the state, Singh said that establishing Punjabi chairs in both varsities & teaching of Punjabi as an optional subject in schools are highly appreciable steps. Recalling the 65 years political history of J&K, Rangil Singh exclaimed and said that the minorities in particular have been subjected to gross injustice by the previous governments. He said that during the regime of NC and Congress, the democratic institutions of the state suffered maximum setback. |
