Overconfident BJP candidates start dreaming of portfolios in new Govt | Strangers overshadow committed workers in party offices | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 7: Riding on the Modi wave, State Bhartiya Janta Party leaders and its candidates have started flying high even as polling for three phases is yet to be held. While strange faces have occupied the party offices and important assignments in the ongoing Assembly elections, some of the overconfident BJP candidates are learnt to have predicting important portfolios for them in the next State Government after polls. According to the sources in BJP circles, a new brigade of strangers has flooded the State BJP and occupied important positions vis-à-vis election affairs in Jammu and Kashmir. Whether it is to accompany visiting Union Ministers and star campaigners of the party or performing important tasks, these new faces are seen at the helm of affairs. More ironic is the fact that even old party loyalists and committed workers are variously asked to report to these alien faces for accomplishment of tasks or new assignments in the elections. The situation has reportedly made some old party loyalist suffocated in State BJP and hapless. Since BJP is a political party and you can not restrict people from joining the organization, assigning them important assignments during the elections is not wise and it will only harm the prospects of candidates, opined an activist, associated with the Sangh Parivar for more than a decade. Once the elections are over, you will not find anyone of these around the party office, he added. On the other hand, some overconfident BJP candidates are also flying high and instead of concentrating more on ground, have started dreaming of important portfolios in the next Government. Fully confident of their victory in the elections and a BJP Government in Jammu Kashmir, these party candidates are even enjoying emanating the behavior of a minister. Interestingly, none of these BJP candidates have ever been elected to the State Assembly while majority of them are contesting the Assembly elections for first time in their political career. |
