Cong still a divided house; Azad, Soz holding meetings separately | | | Sandeep Bhat
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 7: The state Congress is the worst unit ever. Even as the party is contesting the most crucial state elections, things are not well within it and it is still divided between Soz and Azad groups. As per sources, former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is holding most of the election meetings and rallies across the state and Soz is mostly confined to Baramulla where his son Salman Soz is contesting on Congress ticket. There was a division for last many years and the party is divided in Azad and Soz groups. Both these leaders are seen together when they have to share dias with Ambica Soni, senior Congress leader or in a press conference. Otherwise, both of them are seen separately most of the time. The latest example of the Congress being a divided house became visible when both Azad and Soz held election meetings in Beerwah separately. This has not happened for the first time but in past also, such cases have been witnessed . Talking to Early Times, Ravinder Sharma, spokesperson of Congress party, said that Congress is one unit and it is not a divided house. Both Azad and Soz are senior leaders of the party and are continuously campaigning for the party . He said that both cannot campaign together as it is a big state and have to reach the voters so it is not true that Azad and Soz are different. It is pertinent to mention here that when Ambica Soni was addressing media in Jammu in the presence of Azad and Soz, both of them were giving separate answers to media persons. Azad had left the press conference midway when Soz was answering the queries of reporters. During the previous government, the Congress ministers used to be called as Azad and Soz group ministers. Both the leaders are actively campaigning for their candidates and are working hard to ensure their victory. |
