Campaigns at low key to benefit NC candidate | BJP candidate sabotaging party's interest | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 7: A BJP candidate contesting in the ensuing assembly elections in the state has been accused of deliberately campaigning at low key to benefit rival candidate from NC. The issue was taken up by various State leaders with the Party High Command seeking action against the candidate whose negative role is inimical to party interests in the State. BJP candidate who influenced Party High Command to seek mandate for Assembly poll despite the fact that it had opposed mandate for two members of same family, was deliberately campaigning at low key to benefit the rival NC candidate. Sources said the Party candidate created hurdles in giving mandate to a senior BJP leader from this Assembly constituency in Jammu district and also did not allow a leader of an influential family to contest from the said Assembly Segment despite his joining the Party well in advance. The candidate has now according to sources entered into a secret understanding with rival NC candidate from same constituency to keep his poll campaign a low key affair and benefit him. Sources said some party leaders have brought the matter in the notice of Party High Command which has taken a serious exception to it and urged the State unit to warn the Party candidate that such an action on his part will invite disciplinary action against the candidate. Sources said the BJP candidate after filling up his nomination papers before the Returning Officer some days back had not launched the campaigning in a vociferous manner giving NC candidate a field day. Sources said it could be the game plan of a senior leader in the Party who is the kin of the candidate in question to sabotage BJP's Mission. |
