Don't vote for my brother, says PDP MP | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 7: Asking people not to vote for his brother who rebelled against the party, a senior Peoples Democratic Party leader on Sunday praised the local lawmaker who is from his party. Parliament Member Muzaffar Hussain Baig, on the last day of campaigning for the third phase of polls, said: among all the 21 MLAs of PDP, Bukhari was the best in terms of carrying development activities in his constituency Sangrama. He said Bukhari would be re-elected and not only be the new lawmaker but also end up being a minister if his party forms the government. Baig urged the people not to vote for his brother, Fazl Baig, who is contesting as an independent candidate from the constituency against Bukhari. He said though Fazl was his brother but he did not have the party's mandate while Bukhari had. "As an MLA, Basharat carried a large number of developmental works while being in the opposition and in the government he would do even better," Baig said. Speaking on the occasion, Bukhari asked the people to keep faith in him and promised them he would continue with the good work he had been doing in future too. He attacked the National Conference-Congress coalition government accusing them of sending Muhammad Afzal Guru to the gallows. "While Congress was responsible for sending Guru to the gallows, NC was not able to save him or even get back his body so that his family could perform his last rites, which is one of the basic rights," Bukhari said. |
