PDP, Cong workers clash at Mendhar, 6 hurt critically | | | M S Nazki
MENDHAR, Dec 7: In an armed clash between PDP and Congress workers at Harni here today, six persons of both sides, including a 12-year-old boy, sustained critical stab wounds. PDP worker Sarfraz Ahmad Khan, son of Aamir Ullah Khan of Harni, was going in his Tata Sumo (JK12/6083) at about 9 am when Congress workers - Aashiq Hussaina alias Balli, son of Faiz Mohammad, his son Zahoor Ahmad and their family members - attacked him with sharp-edged weapons and also broke his cab. Supporters of the two parties, who watched all this from a distance, rushed to the spot. Quoting eyewitnsses, police sources said the two sides attacked each other with sharp-edged as a result of six persons were wounded critically. Locals later intervened and saved the situation from worsening further. The injured included PDP's Sarfraz and his brother Shabir Ahmad Khan, and Congress workers - Aashiq, his sons Zahoor and Mirza Daud (12) and Shamina Kousar, wife of Munir Hussain. Daud's one ear was partially chopped off in the fight, the sources added. All of them were admitted to the sub-district hospital, Mendhar. Following deterioration in their condition, Shabir was later referred to GMCH, Jammu, and Daud to district hospital, Rajouri. Though a case in this connection was registered at Gursai police station, no arrest had been made in the case till late tonight. |
