Jammu, Dec 7 : The Jammu Students Morcha (JSM) condemned the University authorities for disobeying the Governor (Chancellor Jammu University) order for one person given one posts in the university administration on Sunday. Addressing the media person, state president Amit Kumar said that senior professors were calling the shots as they had been holding more than one prized position since long, notwithstanding it was poorly upsetting the normal functioning of the varsity.
"As per norms, one man should hold one post only. And what is happening on the campus is contrary to the rules. A group of professors occupies more than three or more key posts which eventually affect the students as well as administrative functioning of the varsity," he said. "Instead of adhocism and giving additional charge to some favourites, the Vice-Chancellor should go for a viable solution by filling these posts on permanent basis," he said.
Professor Rajnikant, a Professor in the Physics is presently holding the charge of Director Staff College. At the same time he is also Director Ramnagar Campus. He always busy in enquire committees. He also said that Dr Manoj K Dhar has been occupying five key positions in the university. Dr Manoj K Dhar has been portion as Register. Dhar is also holding the charge of Director, School of Biotechnology, which comprises three wings, bio-chemistry, microbiology and bio-technology, Co-ordinater DST Special Science Package, and advisor to Health Centre. He also said that Prof.Vivek Gupta has been given the charge of Chief central Library and HOD Physics Department. Guneet Sudan has been given the charge of incharge-Director, Centre for IT ES&M, University of Jammu and Nodle officer, Poonch Campus.
He added that another senior Professor, Jasber Singh has been given the charge of Provost Boys Hostel, Chairman NSS, besides Head FM Centre in campus.
He added that Professor, Kuldeep Sharma has been holding three key positions in the university as Dean life Science, Director Human Genetic and member of University Syndicate. Prof Depankar sen has been given charge HOD Economic Deptt and OSD to examination Wing. Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, who was simply appointed as Coordinator, is at present holding the position of Director Reasi Campus, and Coordinator, all campuses.
He demanded that the need of the hour was to decentralize powers. It is highly condemnable that some professors have been given prized positions at the cost of normal functioning of the university. He appealed the Chancellor of University to take cognizance of it and initiate measures to streamline the functioning. |
