Jammu, Dec 7 : Annual General Body meeting of Jammu & Kashmir Olympic Association was held today, at State Olympic Office, 41-B, Karan Nagar extension under the chairmanship of S.Rangil Singh, President, State Olympic Association.
Besides office bearers, 19 State Sports Associations affiliated to the Olympic Association attended the meeting. President welcomed the members and asked the General Secretary to start the proceedings.
After taking up the regular agenda items i.e. Passing of the Minutes of the last meeting, Adoption of the Secretary General Report, Passing of the Accounts of the 2011-12, 2012-13 there was thorough discussion on the participation of State Contingent in the 35th National Games to be held at Kerala from 31st Jan to 15th Feb. 2015 in collaboration with the State Sports Council.
The Games are being organized in 29 Competition venues spread over 7 districts of Kerala vis-à-vis Kannur, Kozikode, Kochi, Alapp-huzha, Trissur, Thiruv-anthapuram & Kollam.
Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, General Secretary informed the house that till now confirmation of 9 (nine) disciplines having qualified to take part in the Games has been received from National Sports Federations/ Association including Archery, Athletics, Fencing, Gymnastics, Shooting, Triathlon, Water Sports, Wrestling, Wushu.
Besides the team members, managers, Coaches the other officials will be Chef-de-Mission-1, Dy. Chef-de-Mission-2, Liaison Officers-2, Secretary-cum-Treasurer-1.
President was authorized by the house to nominate the officials after consultations. President was also authorized to constitute a committee of 5 members for making arrangements for smooth & successful participation of State contingent and coordinate with the State Sports Council.
