Jammu, Dec 29: In order to bridge the gap between Police and Public, Range Police Headquarters Jammu in collaboration with Parade Association Jammu organized veteran T-20 cricket tournament on the eve of New Year at Cricket Ground Parade Ground Jammu. The tournament was inaugurated by Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu Samba Kathua range. DIG Jammu was accompanied by Madan Jha, Circular Business Controller (CBC) Aircel, Rajesh Gill, Organizing Secretary. DIG Jammu while speaking on the occasion said that the tournament has been organized for veteran cricketers, who remain busy in their day to day life and get less time for recreational activities. He said that during the tournament, 06 veteran cricket teams shall participate which include Choudhary Cricket-11, Parade Association-11, Senior Advocate-11, Aircel-11, Atman Sports-11 and Senior JKP-11 .The tournament matches shall be conducted on Saturday and Sunday only. The closing ceremony shall be held on 11th January 2014. DIG Jammu also said that Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament shall be the priority of J&K Police to make this event an annual feature on the eve of New Year. DIG Jammu further said that range police Jammu has also organized various programmes under Civic Action Programme (CAP) viz. Awareness Programme on road safety, social evils, Anti-Drug Rallies, different sports activities etc in order to ensure people friendly policing. The match proceedings were conducted by Rajesh Dhar. Rakesh Singh Sales Head Aircel, Anand Tripathi-Aircel, Rajnish Pran, SSP SO to DIG Jammu, Parshotam Sharma Dy. Director Prosecution, Abhay Bakaya, Vijay Sabarwal, President Parade Association, Anil Mahajan General Secretary Parade Association, Sunil Sambyal Senior Cricketer, Advocate Ajay Manhas, David Matoo and Asif Gill. The inaugural match was played between Choudhary Cricket-11 and Parade Association-11 where Choudhary Cricket-11 defeated Parade Association-11 by 65 runs. |
