PDD charging customers at exorbitant rates | Lineman prepares bill without noting original readings, JE assures probe | | Bivek Mathur
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 29 : Power Development Department (PDD) in Jammu region is fleecing customers by sending inflated PDD bills to its customers with deliberate intentions by mentioning the maximum readings ignoring the original readings when bills are being prepared. A similar case appeared from Tallab Tillo where a customer namely Sanjay Kumar, son of Sansar Chand, resident of Priyadarshni Nagar, House number 128 and lane number 3 was charged more than the exact readings. The local lineman in the area noted the current reading of Sanjay Kumar with customer ID number 0103010016381 as 8,470 against the exact reading which Sanjay Kumar claimed to be 5,468. Kumar said that in this context he made several attempts to contact the local lineman so that rectification is made in the copy of bill handed over to him but all his attempts went in vain as the lineman never took his complaints seriously. According to Kumar, no lineman in his area has handed over him the copy of previous bills owing to which he was left with no option than to pay a joint bill for more than six months which has accumulated to Rs. 10243 which is burdensome for a middle class businessman like Kumar. When the concerned Junior Engineer of Sub Division Tallab Tillo J. P. Singh was contacted in his office here at Canal Road Jammu, he took strong exception of this negligence on the part of concerned lineman of the department and ordered a thorough probe as why the customer was charged more than the actual amount by noting the readings incorrectly. Singh assured the customer that his problem will be sorted out within the shortest period of time and the concerned lineman will be punished for his negligence. |
